The contest went down on Friday, September 17 and raised over 70lbs of food for the local food pantry. All canned food collected was given to the outer banks food bank. Thanks to Joe Tyson for submitting photos of the event. Enjoy.

September 22 is definitely a day to remember. Igor swell is still lingering in the Atlantic and pushing some solid overhead swell our way. The winds finally got their act together and produced a full day of A-1 surf. I was fortunate to surf some and take a few pictures at some of the better bars. Enjoy.

For those of you who traveled 158 looking for that perfect set-up sandbar all day on Friday while the winds were blowing offshore and the waves were head high and mostly doubling up… there were a few lucky souls who stayed in town and scored it pretty good. Hopefully after the winds finish up with the NE chop-fest, we’ll see some cleanliness on the backside. Thanks Mickey (2M) McCarthy for sharing your talent. If anyone else has some great surf pics or video they want to share on obxsurfinfo.com, please send them to: brent@obxsurfinfo.com

Today is the day for the 2010/2011 East Coast VQS Tour by Volcom. The Cooterfish Surf Series is being held at Hayman Blvd. in Kill Devil Hills — all day. The surf is overhead and choppy but it’s still rideable so expect to see some great action. For more information, click HERE.

Ever wonder what other surfers were doing during one of the flattest summers on the Outer Banks? Well, just so happens… local surfers Jesse Hines, Joey Crum, Brett Barley, Dana Quinn, Fisher Heverly and (photog) Matt Lusk had the right idea. They went South to Mexico during a great swell event. Check out Matt Lusk’s blog spot HERE for more information and photos of the trip-of-a-lifetime.
