Atlantic Surfing Federation to Hold its Final Contest at Jennette’s Pier, July 7th

Atlantic Surfing FederationThe NC Chapter of the Atlantic Surfing Federation will hold its final contest for the season on Saturday, July 7th, at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head. There will be prizes, trophies, food, fun, and fellowship, so bring the family, invite your friends, and come spend the day on the beach. End of contest season specials: For Members; Bring a friend that joins the ASF and you will receive a complimentary entry into your first division. For New Members: Come with your friend (above), pay your membership fee, and surf the July 7th contest for free. ALL competitors will have their name dropped in the hat for a chance to win a killer new skateboard, generously provided by Wave Riding Vehicles (WRV), so don’t wait…..sign up today! If you haven’t yet joined the ASF, come check it out. BrentGrowing up as a kid in Virginia Beach, Brent has always been surrounded by water. Sailing, surfing, fishing and skateboarding were his passions and foundation that drew him near the ocean. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and graduated with a Bachelor's in Communication Arts & Design. Having worked at several companies in Richmond as an Art Director, and living away from the ocean for about 10 years, he and his wife decided to make the move back East with their sights on the Outer Banks. With surfing being his favorite hobby, the Outer Banks was a perfect fit. In 2005, Brent headed back to a more familiar and welcoming beach community and now lives in Kill Devil Hills with his wife and 2 daughters. Brent has run a Graphic Design business (BN Design & Advertising) for over 12 years. Complimenting his Design business during the day, Brent is also an acoustic solo guitarist and plays gigs regularly on the Outer Banks and is also a board member of the Surfrider Foundation, Outer Banks Chapter.View all posts by Brent →

The ESA is a primary coordinator of surfing contests along the Atlantic coast, but its board of directors voted to withdrawal from Surfing America in 2009 after disputes concerning contest execution. The ASF intends to fill Surfing America’s east coast void. “Competitive surfing needs to progress and in order to do so there needs to be consistency from the entry level to the elite level,” Anthony argues.
