Paddle Race

19th Annual Surfrider Paddle Race is set for Saturday, July 21st!

Hopefully everyone had paddle practice from yesterday and today’s surf because you’re going to need it. This year the Surfrider Foundation Outer Banks Chapter is at it again – hosting the 19th Annual Paddle Race which seems to be a growing event every year. Last year they had almost 60 paddlers in all kinds of divisions:  (Men’s, Womens and Children – Shortboard, Longboard, SUP, Paddle Board and Kayak). If you don’t have a board, no problem. There will be plenty on hand and don’t worry… it’s only a mile (1/2 mile for kids). Entry fee is $25 for non-Surfrider members, $20 for Surfrider members, $20 for kids. Take $5 off if you register early online HERE.  Surfrider is also offering a deal where you sign up for a “Family Membership” and 3 members get to paddle for FREE. Not into paddling? No worries. There’s a HUGE raffle that takes place with tons of great gifts from their sponsors. Gift certificates, hotel packages, custom surfboards, schwagg, plus MUCH MUCH more. Proceeds of this event are used to help raise money for college scholarships. Registration begins at 9am at the event which is held at the Kill Devil Hills Lifeguard station beach access, across the street from Stop n’ Shop. Race starts at 10am, Raffle is at Noon. (You won’t need to be present to win).
