45th Anniversary of the Easterns Championships will be held Sept. 16-22, 2012 at Jennette’s Pier

With a history of over forty years of success, ESA contests are organized at the grassroots, district level on a year round basis. Each District conducts four or more contests per year, and each year the ESA has over 150 competitions along the entire East Coast. From the local District level, top finishers are invited to advance to Region competitions (of which there are three, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic & Northeast), then the top finishers in those Regional championship events are invited to the The Easterns® held each September at Cape Hatteras, N.C. This is the official championship of the East Coast of the United States and is now in its 4th decade!

The 2012 ESA Surfing Championships will be held at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, NC. – September 16-22.  Live music by Hawaiian recording artist Ekolu Kalama and reggae band Selah Dubb from Wilmington, NC. will be performing each evening after the contest on the beach at Jennette’s Pier.

They are also offering a Jimmy Lewis SUP Surfing Expression Session with world champion stand up paddler Ekolu Kalama, and his lovely wife, Honora.  You have to come see how the these Hawaiians conquer our waves for the first time on the East Coast!  There will also be a movie night sponsored by SPY later in the week.

BrentGrowing up as a kid in Virginia Beach, Brent has always been surrounded by water. Sailing, surfing, fishing and skateboarding were his passions and foundation that drew him near the ocean. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and graduated with a Bachelor's in Communication Arts & Design. Having worked at several companies in Richmond as an Art Director, and living away from the ocean for about 10 years, he and his wife decided to make the move back East with their sights on the Outer Banks. With surfing being his favorite hobby, the Outer Banks was a perfect fit. In 2005, Brent headed back to a more familiar and welcoming beach community and now lives in Kill Devil Hills with his wife and 2 daughters. Brent has run a Graphic Design business (BN Design & Advertising) for over 12 years. Complimenting his Design business during the day, Brent is also an acoustic solo guitarist and plays gigs regularly on the Outer Banks and is also a board member of the Surfrider Foundation, Outer Banks Chapter.View all posts by Brent →
