About

This is the Outer Banks most up to date surf information with twice-daily surf reports, live surf cam and live weather data. This surf report covers Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head and as far South as Frisco. Other features include, extended surf and swell forecasts, daily surf photos and cam as well as local happenings on the Outer Banks. All surf reports are done in person on the beach and are taken from the best sandbars. This ensures that we are not basing our reports on buoy data and that the report is of what is actually happening with the surf, instead of what should be happening. The surf report is listed with an exact time, and as we all know, conditions may change in a matter of minutes. This service is made free to surfers via advertisements, so please consider using their products and/or services or advertise your services on this site. I hope you all enjoy having a free site to visit for all of your Outer Banks surf information.

Why did we decide to launch this site?

Well being local surfers we already get up early and check the surf quite often. So why not help others who might be stuck at home or in the office but still want to feel like they are up to date and in the know. But more importantly, we felt that a site like this was inevitable. We really felt as local surfers, we should be the ones to bring it to the public with a real hands on approach. Unlike other reports on-line, we are the ones checking the surf daily and reporting it… not relaying it to someone else who does a synopsis of the waves once a day. We felt that we would be more qualified to bring a site like this to the Outer Banks with more updates and in a more personal way than the others on-line.

Where is the Camera?

As a surfer, you know surfers are sensitive to locations, especially local Outer Banks surfers. So we don’t want to reveal the exact location of the camera but it is between Southern Shores and Nags Head Pier. We want to keep the adventure in surf exploration, be a wealth of information, but at the same time not tell you what public access to surf. With the size of the Outer Banks and the sand bars being better than the past few years (in town at least)…. if you know there is a swell you can find a place to surf. Also, we don’t want to be a site that is focused on one break. Our reports and daily photos encompass Kitty Hawk through Nags Head, the Outer Banks as a whole.

Forecasting Disclaimer

All forecasts are based on weather data provided from multiple sources and are subject to change. When the weather changes, the surf changes. There is also a larger margin of error in the extended forecast. Please keep this in mind when planning your next surf trip. Forecasts are updated daily to catch any significant changes in the weather pattern.
