This morning the surf is in the stomach to chest high range with bigger sets every once in a while. The winds were lite out of the NNE @ around 5 mph. Forecast calls for NNE @ 10 to 20.   The swell is semi clean has a little surface chop. looks like there are a few good ones coming in though.

We are currently in the process of making some major improvements to our site. If you haven’t noticed already, we’ve added in a streaming cam back to the home page so you can have the latest visual of what’s happening on the ocean. (the cam is located in Kitty Hawk). After listening to our viewers, studying other surf report sites, and simply tuning into the data that makes the most difference in our area, we’ve decided to add some key features and lessen the “click through” process. For example, we condensed our Morning and Afternoon report pages to simply a “Detailed Surf Report” page. Let’s face it, the wind/tide/swell can change at any given moment so this page is dedicated to giving you the most up-to-date information along with a written description of what to expect throughout the day. (no need to toggle back and forth to see which page is most current!) When the waves are better than average, we plan on updating the “Detailed Surf Report” page twice or more to give you the best coverage you need throughout the day. Also, when the surf gets good, we will provide additional information like still photos and youtube clips of sets rolling in, etc…  We actually have a few more really exciting (useful) features in the works that will be coming out soon, so stick around! Thanks for supporting our site and as always, please give us your feedback and make sure you thank our advertisers as they are the ones who make this site free to you.

This is Brent with the Wednesday morning report at 8am. Small 2-4 feet and semi-choppy conditions this morning. High tide is at 8:36am so it’s a little full at the moment. Looks like winds picked up sooner than expected and are now 8-10 mph ESE making conditions semi-choppy. Water temps are at 59 in town. Thanks for checking obxsurfinfo.com

Brent here with your 2nd Tuesday afternoon report at 2:40pm. Small scale SE surf continues this afternoon with knee- thigh high semi-glassy/choppy conditions. Sideshore winds at 10-15 mph never make for groomed conditions but there are some longboardable waves to be had. Just don’t expect too much if you plan to surf. SSE winds should decrease as the day goes on and is expected to be variable/minimal wind overnight. Tomorrow’s high tide is 8:36am so if you plan to surf tomorrow, the earlier the better. Thanks for checking OBXsurfinfo.com. If you have anything to share – photos, videos, art, news, etc… please send an email to: brent@obxsurfinfo.com

Today we are seeing the NE swell start to fill in from the Low Pressure system off the Northern Atlantic coast. It went from 2 feet to 6+ feet in a matter of hours but the wind has also become a factor (currently NNE @ 12 mph). According to several weather sites, the wind is expected to continue blowing N/NNE/NE @ 10-15 mph until Thursday sometime. Since wind is probably one of the hardest elements to forecast, my suggestion would be to keep your eyes on the flags for direction and speed in order to catch this next swell at the best time. Water temps today are soaring in the mid 60′s so you can get away with a spring suit but would probably be most comfortable in a 3/2 full. As always, we will continue to monitor this swell and update our reports as needed so please stay tuned. Thanks for checking OBXsurfinfo.com. Photo Credit: Storm Surf
