These pictures were taken Sunday morning, August 29, 2010. Frisco seemed to be the place to be on the Outer Banks during the height of the swell with offshore winds and 6-9′ waves. Warm water, clean overhead surf and plenty of sunshine. What more do you need (besides a power bar and a second set of arms)?

I know, it’s a little late to show this but it’s finally available. Mickey 2M McCarthy was nice enough to document (and share) a great event that went down Saturday, July 24, 2010. The Surfrider Foundation / Outer Banks Chapter was able to raise over $7,000 to help local county schools and educational programs. This was their most successful event with the paddle race in the 17 years it’s been running. Congratulations to everyone who were involved. Check out the video HERE! -

This from the Surfrider Foundation / Outer Banks Chapter:If you haven’t commented on the Bonner Bridge already, please do so ASAP. The cut-off is Monday, Aug. 9.
The chapter has already submitted a letter supporting the “short bridge” over the “long bridge” — while also recommending an NC Coastal Federation compromise that maintains access to Pea Island while allowing the natural processes to continue — but they need to hear from as many of us as possible. If you like surfing Pea Island, let the DOT know. (Even if it’s just to send an email saying “Whatever solution you decide upon, it must maintain access to Pea Island.”)Here’s a link with the email address:

It’s been a long, flat, cold, jelly-infested summer and if you live near the beach, you’ve probably started taking up hobbies like chess or badminton. FINALLY, there’s a glimmer of hope. Looks like the deceased Tropical Storm Colin might come back to life, but even if it does, it should remain well east of the U.S. coastline. It might, however, threaten Bermuda in a couple of days with estimated 60 mph sustained winds and push a decent ground swell our way. Colin briefly grew into a tropical storm and then degenerated into an open wave on Tuesday. Now its remnants are pulling themselves together, bringing it back to tropical storm status. Officially, forecasters give it a 50 percent chance of developing over the next two days. Stay tuned to OBXsurfinfo.com by subscribing.PRAY FOR SURF!!!
