Calling all Outer Banks surfers! We need your help. Or — more specifically — Surfing For Autism does. The organizers are less than two weeks away from their third annual event, Aug. 13 at Comfort Inn, South Nags Head. Every year it grows, touching more young kids’ lives and reaching them in ways that are otherwise not possible. This year, there are 60 registered — twice as many as 2010 — all for free. Surfing for Autism wants to keep it that way, and they want to help more kids. So this time they’re also having a silent auction on the night of the event in order to raise money. All proceeds will go into next year’s event so they don’t have to turn away a single family.
