This gem of a wave doesn’t brake often … but when it does, and if you’re there to witness it, you are one happy surfer. In this case, Brett Barley scores some fun little barrels.

Keep your eyes on the horizon. When the heavy draining fall swells show up between October 15 and December 1st, the 2011 Battle of the Banks will throw down yet another bloody battle. It’s Virginia Beach against Outer Banks in a fight for bragging rights. So far, Virginia Beach has held the title over the last 3 years. Will this be the year when team OBX takes their land back? Stay tuned and we’ll keep you informed when the contest is a go. You can also click on the poster for more information.

The contest is ON. Local boy Brett Barley just won his heat. Watch all the action HERE.

International Surfing Day on the Outer Banks was pretty windy but with wind, comes waves and for those who took advantage, got a few fun waves. Brett Barley was obviously one of them – reaping the summertime rewards. Here he is making something out of practically nothing. Where were you?

Commentary from Brett Barley’s post on YouTube: Had a SOLID nor’easter last week… sadly there wasnt one day of favorable winds but it did die out to light onshore, so the waves were fun. Daniel Pullen was only able to film the first couple waves of me and ben…. My wife Casey and friend Beau Dempsey filmed the last day of the swell. sadly, no one was able to film on the really big day ben and i surfed… till next time.

Brett Barley shares another video with some of his surfing in Hawaii. More filler than thriller??? Doesn’t seem right to me. Anyway, it’s always good to see some East Coast talent at the proving grounds.  You can find more video clips at Brett Barley’s blog: www.brettgnarley.com
