    Tides: High 4:58 am / Low 11:06 am / High 5:29 pm

Brent here with your Kill Devil Hills afternoon surf report. The surf is still in the knee-thigh+ high range with the occasional waist+ high set. Winds are out of the SSW and creating a little surface texture but overall, it’s clean. It’s definitely rideable in town but the further South you drive today, the larger the surf will be so check our Rodanthe / Avon / Buxton pages for the detailed reports. We are approaching high tide so find a sandbar that works and you should be able to find rideable surf. Weather: Showers and thunderstorms likely this afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent. Thanks for checking obxsurfinfo.com!

    Tide: Low 11:02 am /High 5:35 pm/ Low 11:55

Hey guys, This is Curtis, down here in Buxton with your Wednesday morning surf report. The swell is out of the S. In the chest to head high range. Bigger set are coming through. The wind is out of the SW at around 5 to 10 mph. The surf is pretty clean, mostly closing out but there is that lonely peak that would make it all worth it.

Mark your calendars and head to Buxton to show your support! The First Annual Cape Hatteras Music Festival is being organized by the Cape Hatteras Music Guild to benefit the Cape Hatteras Access Preservation Alliance in its legal fight against the National Park Service and its off-road vehicle management plan and final rule. The idea all started with a few local musicians sitting around talking about beach access. They decided it was time that the community of musical artists on the island did something to help, and the Cape Hatteras Music Festival was born. It starts at 1 p.m. at the Fessenden Center in Buxton, and the musicians will be jamming from 1:30 until 11 p.m. For more information, Please visit the Cape Hatteras Music Guild HERE. You can also get more information on Island Free Press’s Blog HERE.

For those of you who are fired up about the beach closings and extreme regulations put in place on the Cape Hatteras National “Recreational” Seashore, there’s a protest March tomorrow at 10 am in Buxton. We will start at the Lighthouse road on Hwy 12 and go to the lighthouse complaining the whole way. We have several television stations, other sources of media and most importantly people in numbers. This issue needs to gain national attention…it’s very important to get the word out so please hit “share” and let everyone know as soon as possible. Thank you.

This gem of a wave doesn’t brake often … but when it does, and if you’re there to witness it, you are one happy surfer. In this case, Brett Barley scores some fun little barrels.

Surfing plus comedy = Brett Barley. There’s a little something for everyone in this video.

November 25 & 26 provided a great run of waves up and down the banks. Here’s a few sequence shots submitted by Bob Hovey (Duck Village Outfitters) of surfer, Dallas Tolson getting shacked in Buxton.

Looks like this NE swell has finally started to take shape – going from total chaos to fun rideable conditions. It was suffering a hangover this morning but has significantly improved from yesterday. A few pics were taken this morning and the rest were taken around noon today in Nags Head. Check the report page for details.
