    Tides: High 4:58 am / Low 11:06 am / High 5:29 pm

Brent here with your Kill Devil Hills afternoon surf report. The surf is still in the knee-thigh+ high range with the occasional waist+ high set. Winds are out of the SSW and creating a little surface texture but overall, it’s clean. It’s definitely rideable in town but the further South you drive today, the larger the surf will be so check our Rodanthe / Avon / Buxton pages for the detailed reports. We are approaching high tide so find a sandbar that works and you should be able to find rideable surf. Weather: Showers and thunderstorms likely this afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent. Thanks for checking obxsurfinfo.com!

For those more experienced surfers who know what to look for online when it comes to swell, direction, period, angle, etc… we’ve added a crucial tool that gives you pretty much everything you need to know in this area – in one compact chart, plus we’ve added the water temp taken from the Duck Research Pier! Now in place on our Detailed Surf Report page, you only need to visit one website rather that 4! We also have more in store…. for example, we are currently developing an easy to read tide chart. Enjoy and spread the word!

We are currently in the process of making some major improvements to our site. If you haven’t noticed already, we’ve added in a streaming cam back to the home page so you can have the latest visual of what’s happening on the ocean. (the cam is located in Kitty Hawk). After listening to our viewers, studying other surf report sites, and simply tuning into the data that makes the most difference in our area, we’ve decided to add some key features and lessen the “click through” process. For example, we condensed our Morning and Afternoon report pages to simply a “Detailed Surf Report” page. Let’s face it, the wind/tide/swell can change at any given moment so this page is dedicated to giving you the most up-to-date information along with a written description of what to expect throughout the day. (no need to toggle back and forth to see which page is most current!) When the waves are better than average, we plan on updating the “Detailed Surf Report” page twice or more to give you the best coverage you need throughout the day. Also, when the surf gets good, we will provide additional information like still photos and youtube clips of sets rolling in, etc…  We actually have a few more really exciting (useful) features in the works that will be coming out soon, so stick around! Thanks for supporting our site and as always, please give us your feedback and make sure you thank our advertisers as they are the ones who make this site free to you.

This is Brent with the Wednesday morning report at 8am. Small 2-4 feet and semi-choppy conditions this morning. High tide is at 8:36am so it’s a little full at the moment. Looks like winds picked up sooner than expected and are now 8-10 mph ESE making conditions semi-choppy. Water temps are at 59 in town. Thanks for checking obxsurfinfo.com
