We are proud to support a great fundraiser: the 18th Annual Outer Banks Surfrider Foundation 1-Mile Paddle Race. (Thanks to our viewers for choosing us as your trusted source for surf reports, AND our awesome advertisers who keep the gears moving behind the scenes)  Proceeds of the race will be used to help local scholarships and educational programs. Last year, the Surfrider Foundation raised almost $7,000! This year, they plan on crushing that number. Raffle tickets will go on sale soon so you don’t have to attend the event in order to win, however, it would be highly recommended to attend this event as it is filled with all kinds of schwag and great prizes from restaurants, surf companies, local shops, etc…  and most importantly, it’s a great day to be at the beach. Top raffle prizes include a custom shaped short board from Mike Rowe at Hooked Surfboards, another surfboard from Rascoe at GFG Surfboards, A rope swing hammock from Nags Head Hammocks, a night’s stay at the Ramada Inn, a Skate/Stick from Outer Banks Stand-Up Paddle and more… DON’T MISS THIS EVENT! For more information on this event, please visit the Surfrider Foundation, Outer Banks Chapter.

For all of you who have attended this event in the last 17 years – I’m sure you would agree that it’s a fun day at the beach with lots of great prizes, food and of course… the paddle battles.  There’s a division for everyone (groms to grown-ups, short boards to SUP’s). Last year was the most successful event thus far – raising over $5,000 for local scholarships and educational programs. This year the Surfrider Foundation, Outer Banks Chapter is looking to raise even more money as this event just gets bigger and better. So far, tax deductible donations have been flooding in but the Surfrider Foundation needs your help! If you know of anyone and/or business that would like to help raise money, please contact brent@obxsurfinfo.com or call 252-256-0423. The deadline for donations (and to get sponsor’s logo/name on posters and T-shirts) is Wednesday, July 6.  Raffle tickets will also go on sale for this event with great prizes that include: Stand-up Skate/Stick and a custom surfboard shaped by Mike Rowe from Hooked Surfboards! Don’t miss this event and if you can’t attend but would still like to purchase raffle tickets, please contact brent@obxsurfinfo.com or call 252-256-0423.
