The OBX Pro is a $30,000 Profesional Surfing Event held in the Outer Banks every year. Part of the Western Atlantic Surf Series. The first Outer Banks Pro took place at Kitty Hawk Pier in the early 2000′s. Since the beginning, Wave Riding Vehicles has stood for surfing and spreading it’s Aloha throughout the world. They continue to support professional surfing in all of its forms. With the new construction of Jennette’s Pier, backed by the North Carolina Aquarium, WRV has the unique opportunity to run one of the most core surf contests in the region. Last year saw the largest purse ever brought to the East Coast. The Wave Riding Vehicles Outer Banks Pro Presented by Hurley with a total purse of $30,500 in prize money looks to be another hit this year! Special thanks to all the amazing sponsors; Hurley, Dragon Optics, Kona Brewing Company, Silmar, Arialite, Surfer, Eastern Surf Magazine, 99.1 The Sound and Charter Media.Click Here for Outer Banks Pro Registration

Mark Dawson Wins 2nd Annual OBX Shootout Pro Surfing!
Posted in: News and Happenings, Surf Pictures, Surfing
A few pics (above) were taken at the event that went down at Jennette’s Pier today. The surf was definitely contestable with rampy, peaky, clunky 5-8′ faces. Despite the onshore slush, surfers were able to draw out some pretty impressible lines. Congrats to Mark Dawson for winning the 2nd Annual OBX Shootout Pro Surfing Event! Also, many thanks to Duck Village Outfitters and Catch Surf for putting on what looks like a notable event for years to come. Photo Credit: OBXsurfinfo.com

Posted in: News and Happenings, Surfing
The contest has a green light to start Monday 7 am sharp. All team members are supposed to meet at North S-Turns at 6:30 am. This should be a great battle. Waves are thumping and the wind forecast is looking good. Hopefully today’s light North winds will polish off the sea sickness in time for some A+ surf. The 2 teams will compete for bragging rights and $300 for each winning team member. An “Individual Champion” award will be given an Oakley Ceramic Watch with name engraving and last but not certainly least – Best Barrel of the Day will be awarded $1,000 + a GO PRO Camera. The Outer Banks team lineup: Noah Snyder (captain), Jesse Hines (captain), Jeff Myers, Brett Barley, Pat McManus, Dana Quinn, Chris McDonald, Julian Payne, Lynn Shell, Matt Beacham, Drew Merideth, Billy Hume, Carl Detter, Joey Crumb and Seth Barrick.
Virginia Beach team lineup: Brad Harrell (captain), Chris Todd (captain), Ian Parnell, Raven Lundy, Wes Laine, Jason Borte, Lucas Rogers, B. Petticrew, Philip Goold, Michael Dunphy, Granger Clark, Seabass Moreno, Andrew Meyer, Randy Renard and Mike Schirmer.
This is going to be SICK!
