    Tides: High 4:58 am / Low 11:06 am / High 5:29 pm

Brent here with your Kill Devil Hills afternoon surf report. The surf is still in the knee-thigh+ high range with the occasional waist+ high set. Winds are out of the SSW and creating a little surface texture but overall, it’s clean. It’s definitely rideable in town but the further South you drive today, the larger the surf will be so check our Rodanthe / Avon / Buxton pages for the detailed reports. We are approaching high tide so find a sandbar that works and you should be able to find rideable surf. Weather: Showers and thunderstorms likely this afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent. Thanks for checking obxsurfinfo.com!

Hey guys, This is Curtis, down here in Buxton with your Wednesday morning surf report. The swell is out of the S. In the chest to head high range. Bigger set are coming through. The wind is out of the SW at around 5 to 10 mph. The surf is pretty clean, mostly closing out but there is that lonely peak that would make it all worth it.

Got to shoot a few photos this morning before going out. Super fun waist to chest high surf, clean, green and warm water. Gotta love September.

March is typically known for cold water and very large swells. This year, the term “March Madness” is probably referring to the the insanity for lack of waves. With that said, this winter has been pretty uneventful. In fact, it went from bad to worse. Luckily for a few who were paying attention, they were able to capitalize on a small but fun swell down South. Here are a few pictures that Mickey (2M) McCarthy took to share.

Local Photographer Matt Lusk has certainly been busy over the last few swells…. cold water/weather and all. His unique shots of capturing that euphoric moment for surfers is constantly progressing. One of his recent accomplishments was a featured photo in “Stab” magazine where they only pick 15 of the best photos from around the world to be featured in the latest publication. Recently, Lusk took a road trip from the Outer Banks up to New England on a cold wintery swell and captured more of those magical moments. Thanks to Surfermag.com (and of course, Matt Lusk and a handful of talented surfers), You can view them HERE.
