This from the Surfrider Foundation / Outer Banks Chapter:
If you haven’t commented on the Bonner Bridge already, please do so ASAP. The cut-off is Monday, Aug. 9.
The chapter has already submitted a letter supporting the “short bridge” over the “long bridge” — while also recommending an NC Coastal Federation compromise that maintains access to Pea Island while allowing the natural processes to continue — but they need to hear from as many of us as possible. If you like surfing Pea Island, let the DOT know. (Even if it’s just to send an email saying “Whatever solution you decide upon, it must maintain access to Pea Island.”)
Here’s a link with the email address:

Thanks as always
Sincerely,
Your Outer Banks Surfrider Executive Committe

Well, for one thing, we cannot afford to build or maintain a long bridge.
