Surfrider is letting their members know about a Governor’s Scientific Panel on Offshore Energy will meet this Thursday at 4pm in Manteo to get public input on petroleum, wind, tide, etc. Even with the Deepwater Horizon less than a year old – and a 7-year moratorium in place — Big Oil is still quietly pushing to expand drilling as soon as possible. This is your chance as coastal resident to remind our decision makers of all the false promises of “safe technology” the industry made leading up to last spring’s disaster – and the investigation’s findings that they were cutting corners the whole time. It’s also the perfect opportunity to encourage them to fully research the Outer Banks’ abundant wind and tide resources. Please voice your opinion this Thursday at the Administration Building, 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive, at 4pm.

I encourage you to attend.
